We follow an Integrated Project Delivery approach to ensure designs are fully considered, with a low risk of late and costly changes.
BIM MANAGEMENT & COORDINATION
As independent BIM Managers, we work with clients and contractors to develop and implement BIM strategies.
Working with the design and shop drawing teams, we lead the coordination of federated project models to ensure each discipline is delivered in accordance with the project's BIM requirements.
Significant value is achieved by resolving issues during the design and shop drawing phases rather than during construction.

DIGITAL ASSET & FAMILY CREATION
The modelling of BIM components is the virtual creation of construction products in the BIM language. These are 3D digital representations of product with the advantage that they include embedded product information, e.g. product codes, technical specifications, warranties, installation information etc.
Manufacturers that offer specifiers functional BIM families to use in their design models have a competitive edge on their competitors.

RECENT BIM PROJECTS
Waltham Hub and Hillside Workshop - KiwiRail
BuildBIM in collaboration with Calder Stewart are providing KiwiRail with advanced as-built digital models for two major projects, employing innovative techniques within in the Revizto environment.
Our work supports the construction of a cutting-edge rail mechanical facility in Waltham Yard, Christchurch, and a workshop redevelopment in Hillside, Dunedin.
BIM models are being developed to align with KiwiRail's industry leading digital engineering strategy, reflecting their commitment to innovation and precision in rail infrastructure.
Aria Bay Retirement Village - Stage 2
Aria Bay Retirement Village Stage 2 incorporates 4 to 6 storey buildings containing 24 apartments of independent luxury living set in the heart of the Browns Bay community.
BuildBIM provided design management through the design stage of the project and delivered a complete construction BIM coordination and shop drawing process for structure and services with modelling to LOD 350.

AKL 02 - Auckland Datacentre
BuildBIM provided Construction BIM Coordination and Modeling on the AKL 02 Datacenter Project, which will be the largest datacenter ever built in New Zealand. The 11,600 m2 two level 40MW facility will be built on a five-hectare site in north Auckland.
BuildBIM provided coordination, modelling and shop drawing to the general contractor, Hawkins Construction, rationalising the design in order to adapt this complex building for New Zealand seismic conditions.
Works included management of architectural, structural, civil and building services models.
Ō Mahurangi Penlink Project
BUILDBIM is providing Digital Engineering and BIM Management services to the Penlink Alliance team on the Ō Mahurangi Penlink Project, a new $830 million, 7 km road from SH 01 through farmland and coastal environment to the Whangaparāoa Peninsula.
This project is a great opportunity to leverage BIM in the NZ Infrastructure sector and the Alliance is developing some innovative solutions in this space.

NZ International Convention Centre, Auckland
BuildBIM, in collaboration with McKay, is provided pre-fire and now post-fire Electrical BIM Coordination & Modelling services on the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in Auckland.
BuildBIM’s role was to work with our client, McKay to provide BIM coordination management and modelling for the electrical systems, using the coordinated model to produce shop drawings. Such a large-scale complex facility incorporates considerable electrical services which must be coordinated in-conjunction with full structural steel fabrication and comprehensive mechanical, hydraulic and fire services trade models.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare – Building 4, Auckland
BuildBIM, in collaboration Aquaheat, provided mechanical BIM coordination and modelling services on the new Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Building 4. The building, with a total gross floor area of 35,700m², contains offices, a laboratory, model-shop space, manufacturing space, a materials warehouse and large-scale distribution centre.
Advanced BIM has been a feature of this project with the client requiring the delivery of a 3D model for Facilities Management use, following the completion of construction.
Shirley Boys High and Avonside Girls High School, Christchurch
BuildBIM, in collaboration with David Browne Contractors, provided mechanical coordination and modelling services on the brand new Shirley Boys' High and Avonside Girls’ High Schools.
The school facilities include a 750 seat performing arts centre, a 100 seat theatre, four full-sized sports fields with a 400-metre running track, three full-sized indoor gymnasiums and a cafe and fully-equipped commercial teaching kitchen.

The Antipodean, 39 - 53 Beach Road, Auckland
BuildBIM in collaboration with Construction Workshop provided BIM modelling services on the Antipodean building. This 15 level apartment building, constructed by Watts and Hughes, is comprised of 161 apartments, a 20m lap pool, and underground parking.
BuildBIM provided BIM modelling services for the Hydraulics, Electrical and Fire Services reporting issues on the Revizto platform.

Flinders Medical – Health and Hospitality Centre, Adelaide, South Australia
In collaboration with Virtual Built Pty and Hansen Yunken, BuildBIM provided architectural and structural BIM modelling services on the $185.5m upgrade of the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, South Australia.
The new building is adjacent to the existing Flinders Hospital and includes a state of the art rehabilitation facility spread across 5 levels and 11,000m2.

Dunedin Hospital ICU & Gastro
BuildBIM in collaboration with Atmos provided mechanical service coordination and modelling on the new Dunedin Hospital Intensive Care Unit and Gastronomy area development. The $15 million facility is a "critical care unit'' that includes two high dependency units.
This project was particularly complex being a refurbishment of an existing building. Working with Naylor Love, the lead services coordinator, BuildBIM provided critical clash-detection services to iron out clashes with the existing building, architecture and services, while developing the mechanical BIM to produce the shop-drawings and as-builts for hand-over.

Portobello Marine Laboratory Facilities, University of Otago
In collaboration with Cook Brothers Construction, BuildBIM provided BIM modelling of mechanical and plumbing services and as-built documentation on the newly constructed Portobello Marine Laboratory Facilities.
The $5 million marine science laboratory includes a 6m aqua-display tank and a new seawater system that pumps 60,000 litres of seawater through the complex every hour.

Waikeria Prison Redevelopment
BuildBIM provided BIM Management services on the WPPPD project, which will be New Zealand's largest prison with 27 separate buildings.
BuildBIM provided clash detection and reporting services on behalf of the general contractor, CPB, introducing BIMtrack to the clash detection process to improve coordination and provide greater transparency of resolution of issues. BuildBIM also provided service documentation and shop drawings for the electrical sub-trade.
