Client: FLETCHERS CONSTRUCTION

Project: DYNAMO SCRIPTING WITHIN CIVIL 3D

Service: AS-BUILTS FOR AIRPORT UNDERGROUND SERVICES

Status: COMPLETE

To streamline the production of metadata-rich as-builts, BuildBIM was engaged to extract and assign survey data to 3D polylines representing underground services. Manually completing this task would have been time-consuming and error-prone, so we developed a Dynamo scripting solution within Civil 3D.

Two custom scripts were created:

  • The first assigns consistent project-wide data — including project name and number, service type, materials, manufacturers, and geometric data such as lengths and invert levels.

  • The second identifies intersecting survey points, extracts relevant metadata (e.g. surveyor details and survey date), and maps this information to the associated polylines.

This automated approach delivers a detailed, metadata-rich as-built model that supports the client throughout the asset's lifecycle.
